Just one day after spending Christmas with her cousin, Rihanna had to say goodbye -- and subsequently call for an end to gun violence.
The "Work" singer took to Instagram late Tuesday night (Dec. 26) to pay tribute, posting a series of pictures with her cousin and writing, "RIP cousin... can't believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man!" Although she didn't specifically say how he died, Rihanna included the hashtag "#endgunviolence" with the emotional post.
Rihanna didn't mention her cousin's name or age, but local Barbadian news station Nation News reported that the victim of a Tuesday night shooting is 21-year-old Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne. Police found in initial investigations that Alleyne was shot around 7 p.m. local time when he was walking by a track near his home in St. Michael, Barbados, when a man shot him multiple times and fled the scene. Authorities are still searching for the suspect.
Rihanna tagged her cousin's profile in the post, where fans can find a birthday shout-out he posted for RiRi on her 29th birthday earlier this year. "Every day we are happy to have you in our lives," he wrote, hinting at their close relationship. "Your presence in my life is a source of joy and happiness."
